Oriol Canosa (Tarragona, 1975) is a bookseller and author of children’s books. His first novel was L’illa de les cartes perdudes, published in 2014. With the epistolary novel L’illa de Paidonèsia (2016), he won the prestigious Premi Josep Maria Folch i Torres, while his illustrated book El islote de los perros (2017) was awarded the Premi Ala Delta. He now lives in Barcelona, where he runs Pebre Negre, a bookstore dedicated to children’s literature.

The book takes a global perspective, with references to countries such as France, New Zealand, Spain, Italy, Germany, Australia, Russia, and England. The reading becomes a sensory experience that blends illustrations and text, inviting reflection on the past as well as on the present and future of the struggles for gender equality.
Written by Oriol Canosa and illustrated by Marta R. Gustems, the book retraces 150 years of global feminist history, starting from 1872 in Birmingham and extending to the present day. Through historical events, key episodes, trial records, dialogues, anniversaries, and more or less well-known figures from around the world, La Tela explores the path of women’s emancipation movements, intertwining historical narration with illustration. The Italian edition is enriched with an introductory note by Barbara De Micheli.
The distinctive element of the volume is the use of moving illustrations: when the pages are flipped quickly, the images come to life, creating a visual effect that simulates animation. This mechanism is used to represent the evolution of feminism and its impact over the decades, offering a dynamic and engaging reading experience that blends narrative with visual art.
